This is one of the least invasive procedures of aesthetic dentistry, during which the shape, color, and size of the teeth are restored. The aesthetic filling is usually done when the teeth are damaged by decay, discoloration, or cracking. Also, this treatment helps to smooth out the dental arch and reduce gaps between teeth.
THE PROCESS OF AESTHETIC FILLING TREATMENT:
- Consultation - during the first visit, the Patient discusses with the doctor his wishes and expectations. For medical indications, X-rays are taken. Before the procedure, it is recommended to perform professional oral hygiene. After the consultation, a visit for aesthetic filling is scheduled.
Aesthetic filling procedure is performed with an anesthetic. Until the anesthetic takes effect, the doctor selects the color of the filling material. Aesthetic restoration is achieved with the layering technique, a special method which layer by layer helps restore teeth transparency, color, and shape. The duration of the treatment depends on the number of teeth to be restored.
- Care - after aesthetic filling, the dentist assesses the Patient's hygiene skills and indicates how often it is necessary to perform oral hygiene treatment. After the procedure, normal oral hygiene rules should be followed, but the Patient should not use very hard toothbrushes or toothpaste with abrasive particles. Moreover, for at least 12 hours after the procedure, it is recommended not to eat teeth-staining foods (e.g. beets, blueberries, etc.). These products will abrade and stain the surface of an aesthetically filled tooth and it will lose its shine and color.
