Dental Treatment for Children

Back
Children's dental treatment is a multifaceted process, which involves the cooperation of parents and a doctor, a pediatric dentist. Parents should prepare the child at home each time they go to the dentist. It is important to explain what procedures are awaiting for the little ones and how they will be performed.

THE PROCESS OF DENTAL TREATMENT:
  1. Examination - upon his first visit to the dentist, the child is usually psychologically prepared. He is introduced to the environment, instruments, a doctor, and personnel. Parents receive advice on the peculiarities of children's dental care and are reminded that in most cases they have to help children brush their teeth until the age of 7-8. After the dentist has assessed the child's emotional state, a visit for treatment or for another preparation is scheduled.
  2. Dental treatment - when a milk tooth is slightly damaged by decay, the tissues are cleaned in one visit, and the crown is restored with a filling substance. Children can choose their favorite color for the filling (e.g. green, blue, pink). In the case of more complicated treatment of milk tooth decay, one visit is not enough. All treatments are performed using pain medications.
  3. Prevention - during the visit, the doctor discusses with parents the main aspects to maintain the child's teeth healthy: the influence of good oral hygiene, the benefits of fluorides, the stages of dental development, and a properly balanced diet. The most important factor of dental care for young Patients are regular preventive visits and constant support from parents.vaiku-dantu-gydymas

PROCEDURES OF CHILDREN'S DENTAL TREATMENT:

TREATMENT OF MILK TEETH
  • Milk tooth filling - when the milk tooth is only slightly damaged by decay, the crown is restored with a filling substance.
  • Complex treatment of milk tooth decay - in case of deeper decay of the milk tooth, it is necessary to clean not only the crown damage but also the infected part.
  • Treatment of the root canals of the milk tooth - when milk teeth are severely damaged by decay or a child experiences toothache, the root canals usually need to be treated. This treatment is often done in two visits.
  • Capping a milk tooth - when the crown of the tooth is severely damaged, the filling is not enough -  a crown must be placed on the tooth.
  • The extraction of milk tooth - the treatment is performed when the tooth can no longer be cured or when the disease of the milk tooth (inflammation) threatens the germination of the permanent tooth and its full development. The extraction is also performed when a milk tooth interferes with the germination of a permanent tooth.
TREATMENT OF PERMANENT TEETH
  • Filling of permanent teeth - this is the treatment when damaged tissues are removed, the cavity is formed, the enamel is etched and the crown of the tooth is restored with filling substances.
APPLICATIONS
  • Sealants - coating of the chewing surfaces of permanent or milk back teeth with a sealing material. It is a preventive measure to protect a newly erupted tooth from decay. The procedure itself is quite short and painless, all the doctor has to do is thoroughly clean the tooth surface and apply protective material.
  • Fluoride varnish is a special substance that reduces the occurrence of decay and strengthens tooth enamel. The frequency of fluoride applications depends on the spread of decay in the mouth and the Patient’s hygiene skills.
