Burnos-chirurgijaOral and dental surgery is a field of dentistry that covers all surgical procedures and the diagnosis of diseases in the oral cavity and jaw areas. Surgical procedures are needed for a variety of reasons: to restore lost teeth, to treat oral pathologies, or if orthodontic treatment requires it. Surgery is the basis of complex clinical cases.

THE STAGES OF ORAL SURGERY:
  1. Treatment planning - during the consultation,  the Patient can share his expectations are if needed, the doctor takes X-ray images. If the clinical condition is stable, the treatment plan is agreed and visits for surgery are scheduled. If the Patient needs to get extra help, the surgery can be performed immediately. 
  2. Care - after the operation, the oral surgeon assesses the complexity of the surgical procedure and the continuity of the treatment plan, and then assigns visits for examination or further surgeries.

 

ORAL SURGERY PROCEDURES:


TOOTH REMOVAL
  • This is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures. Tooth removal is needed when the tooth is damaged, fractured, has cracked roots, or if the orthodontic treatment requires it.
DENTAL IMPLANTATION
  • This is a modern way to restore lost teeth. Implantation is needed when the Patient complains of a lost tooth or when the absence of multiple teeth is troublesome. Implantation is also relevant for Patients who find removable dentures inconvenient.
PERIODONTAL TREATMENT
  • This is a treatment that aims to control the accumulation of bacteria on the gums. Such treatment is required when the Patient is diagnosed with periodontitis or gingivitis.
OTHER ORAL SURGERY PROCEDURES
  • These are complex operations that require specialized preparation. These surgeries are needed to prepare for implantation or to preserve existing teeth.
